![]() ![]() CCM is about to celebrate its 150th anniversary. I’ll be forever grateful that I have been able to come full circle, and share the training I received at CCM with another generation of students. It is rare for a university to recognize adjunct contributions, and I salute UC for doing so. I would like to thank UC for recognizing and honoring the work of adjunct faculty. I have no words to express what that meant to me, and the joy I feel, seeing them claim their places on Broadway and other stages, following their dreams. A number of my students surprised me in New York with a champagne brunch on April 2 to celebrate my retirement. ![]() I’ve been truly honored to work with wonderful colleagues, and to have been given the opportunity to teach and mentor my talented and remarkable students. I call it simply “the gift I gave myself.” As an older professional, it means so much to continue to contribute and feel appreciated. These past seven years have been a total joy. In 2009 my husband and I retired to Cincinnati, where I received an unexpected invitation to return to CCM - my alma mater - to teach musical theatre voice as an adjunct professor. ![]() This year marks my 48th year of continuous work - 21 years as a singer/actress, and another 20 years as a college professor and theatre producer. For another view, try Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops' The Latin Album, which mixes incendiary pieces by Ginastera, Moncayo, Guarneri, and others with the tourista material, thus creating a better balance - and a far better program - than the Kunzel disc.As the academic year comes to a close, we celebrate the careers of nine retiring faculty and staff members who have given nearly 250 years of combined service to UC’s College-Conservatory of Music. But, of course, that's not the premise of this CD - a look at how American commercial pop integrated Latin influences - and all a listener can do is go with it or not. One longs in vain for a taste of the real thing - say, a roaring symphonic showpiece by a Latin classical composer. Guest trumpeter/toreador Doc Severinsen does his best bullfight fanfare in "La Virgen de la Macarena" and fellow Tonight Show veterans Tommy Newsom and John Bambridge help out with some of the arrangements (catch the latter's clever Beethoven's "Ninth Symphony" reference in the middle of "El Cumbanchero"). The music conjures images of ladies with baskets of fruit on their heads or loud, affluent, middle-aged American males in shorts and hats with cameras dangling, trying to do the mambo. And you can guess what the tunes are: "Brazil," "Cielito Lindo," "Granada," "Tico Tico," "Carioca," "Besame Mucho," "Mexican Hat Dance," "The Girl From Ipanema," Barry Manilow's infernal "Copacabana," and more. Every twitchy Tropicana cliché in the book from the middle of the 20th century is seemingly invoked in these deliberately kitschy treatments of the usual chestnuts. The execution is there Erich Kunzel & the Cincinnati Pops display an undeniable zest and affection for the material here. This collection of symphonically inflated south-of-the-border pops is an American tourist's idea of Latin music - and there's a place for that it all depends upon the execution and the freshness of the arrangements. ![]() ![]() The Sony 90mm on the APS-C cameras has a 135mm equivalent field of view. The Olympus 60mm has the same field of view as a 120mm lens on Full Frame, while the Fuji 60mm matches the Sony 90mm’s field of view. The Sony is also the only lens with optical image stabilization.īecause of the different formats, the lenses also have differing fields of view for normal shooting. It’s significantly larger and heavier than the other two lenses. The Sony, on the other hand, simply dwarfs the other two lenses. The Fuji is the shortest, while the Olympus is overall the smallest: it’s thinner and lighter than the others. The competitors: Fuji 60mm f/2.4, Olympus 60mm f/2.8, Sony 90mm f/2.8As you can see above, there is also a huge difference in size. I tested the Fuji using the X-E2, the Olympus using the OM-D E-M5 and the Sony using both the A7 II and a6000. The Sony 90mm f/2.8 is a full-frame lens that can be used on both the A7 series of cameras as well as Sony’s APS-C line of E-mount cameras. The Fuji 60mm f/2.4 is designed for the APS-C Fuji X system, and is the only macro lens in this comparison that can’t do 1:1 focusing: it maxes out at 1:2 magnification. Since this is a 1:1 macro, it also can create the tightest framing of all the lenses. The Olympus 60mm is designed for the Micro 4/3 system, and such covers the 4/3 sized sensor. First of all, we have different sensor formats. ![]() Of course, there are differences to be had. These macro lenses are all native to their respective mounts and all have excellent reputations. So, how do the others compare? Let’s find out. Both are good, and the Olympus, mounted on my E-M5, is my personal go-to rig for macro shooting: it’s very small, light, has outstanding stabilization and brilliant optics. So with one excellent macro lens in for review, I thought it would be fun to do a very quick and down and dirty comparison of this lens with the two macro lenses I own: the Fuji 60mm f/2.4 and the Olympus 60mm f/2.8. I have the new Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro in for review this week, and should have that review up in the next few days. ![]() So, a quick and fun little comparison for today. ![]() ![]() ![]() My review is in hopes that they improve these aspects. We had to wait for a cart for like 30 minutes and then had to wait another 15 minutes to tee off. In addition, at 1st I was totally cool with my next complaint but after our experience i became uneasy about it. I saw him around 12:30pm ant that was that so I dont think it was him perhaps just the way the course is managed. i saw the marshal only once, great older guy. Where was the marshal? It was only 3:30pm. Every group was waiting for the group ahead of them and in some holes you even had 3 groups waiting to tee off. ![]() Every hole had 3 groups at the tee, fairway and green. The back 9 would of definitely taken us 4 hours. When we saw this, of course we became upset. it seemed like a family and they seemed to be enjoying themselves but man, this is not how you play golf. There was a group in the 17th hole with 7 players. In hole number 12 we then waited 15 minutes and we then became annoyed since it was also getting late so we decided to drive the whole course to hopefully pass a group that might perhaps be holding everyone back. Once we reached the 11th hole, Im not exaggerating when I say that we waited approximately 25minutes. Waiting for the next hole was fair, no more than 5 minutes. I went during MLK holiday there were a lot of people but it wasnt overwhelmed. They replied to the reviewer that they are looking into the improvement of place of play. I just read a review that was left a few months ago regarding pace of play and a marshals. The course is well maintained so now why a 2 star rating?. all of these factors make the course great and I praise them for this. The course is challenging not just because of the lay out but because of wind, elevations, and widths of fairways. ![]() ![]() ![]() How to Convert WMA to M4A Utilizing the iTunes The best tool among the three options is Video Converter Studio which makes up for shortcomings of other tools and integrates extra useful features into one program.
